AFTER HOURS SESSION

JINWOOK

- Could you share the thoughts and ideas behind this mix?

Mixing music with completely different genres or music styles from the beginning to the middle and ending

- Can you tell us about your approach to creating mixes?

If you decide on the first song and the main one, build up and natural finish until you get to that song.

- What methods do you prefer when searching for new music? Do you still enjoy browsing for music in record stores, or have you come to prefer online purchases?

Still prefer to go to a music store. I think I bought over ¥100,000 during this Japan tour

- Besides DJing, what stimulates your creativity?

A good movie or music documentary film

- Do you have any advice for those looking to start a career as a DJ?

Get in touch with lots of music regardless of genre. One day it will be all about DJing.

- What plans do you have for 2024?

We will release one more single track and do an Asian tour as well as Japan!

DJ Jinwook

DJ Jinwook began his career at the underground club scenes of Hongdae, Seoul in 1999. From there, not only did he perform at various venues across the nation, but he also broke out into the DJ scenes of both Japan and London, England.
Boasting a repertoire of Soul, Funk, Disco, House, and other genres, he performed at the most notable and loved venues in the party scenes across Korea. Beginning with M.I, M2, and W Hotel, he then expanded his reach to other clubs and regions such as Itaewon Pistil, Mystik, Midnight Seoul, Contra, Bolero, Kockiri and Output Busan. Through his Tokyo performances at Yellow, Club Asia, Ball Room, Bar Bridge, and more, he was able to facilitate a bridge between the music scenes of Japan and Korea, creating a flow of exchange and advancing the music development of the two countries which also has a long history of confrontation. He collaborated with Japanese artists like Little Big Bee, Sunaga Tatsuo, and DJ Nori.
In 2006, he was included in a compilation by Eastronika Live Mix and New York-based Ibadan Label, later working on various Korean remixes. In 2020, he released the track, “Droom Zonsondergang,” which he produced from start to finish. The following year, it was released on vinyl by Japan’s Flower Records under the title, “Dream Sunset.”
Currently, he hosts parties across many venues under his party label Disco Surf. He is also actively involved in major DJ festivals in Korea, starting from SCR, the Air House, Hitech Seoul, The Grateful Camping Festival and many more, which proves his significance and importance as a veteran DJ at the forefront of Korea‘s underground music scene.
