- Could you share the thoughts and ideas behind this mix?
I was told that the recording would be done using natural light without any additional lighting. Having visited ELLA WAREHOUSE multiple times and being familiar with its interior, I chose records with a tone that would match its monochromatic atmosphere.
- Can you tell us about your approach to creating mixes?
I like mixes that evoke a sense of storytelling, so I make a conscious effort to create a narrative flow in my mixes as well.
- What methods do you prefer when searching for new music? Do you still enjoy browsing for music in record stores, or have you come to prefer online purchases?
I visit a local record store two to three times a week, listening to newly arrived records and learning various information through conversations with the owner. I usually prefer to physically handle, see, and listen to records before buying them.
- Besides DJing, what stimulates your creativity?
My workplace, DOMICILE TOKYO. DOMICILE TOKYO has a gallery that regularly hosts exhibitions and pop-ups across various genres. Interacting with artists from the preparation stage gives me a lot of creative stimulation.
- Do you have any advice for those looking to start a career as a DJ?
When I started DJing, I didn't have any DJs around me, so I just went to parties, watched how others handled the equipment, and repeatedly talked to many people to learn from them little by little. I believe the sense of the scene required for DJing can only be cultivated in the field. It's important to go to various parties, experience and absorb the atmosphere, and refine your own style. I'm still learning, so let's enjoy it together (laughs).
- What plans do you have for 2024?
Performing at MATRICARIA from September 21 to 23, and at the Ready or Not 2nd Anniversary Party on November 3.
