AFTER HOURS SESSION

Could you share the thoughts and ideas behind this mix?

For this mix, I put together a set using records I found during my stay in Japan, specifically from Tokyo and Osaka.

Can you tell us about your approach to creating mixes?

I try to connect tracks with the same tone as much as possible. I believe that even if the genres are very different, if the tones of the tracks match, the mix can be convincing.

What methods do you prefer when searching for new music? Do you still enjoy browsing for music in record stores, or have you come to prefer online purchases?

I still enjoy visiting local record stores, but being in Melbourne, where DJs, artists, and bands are everywhere, I constantly absorb from them as well.

Besides DJing, what stimulates your creativity?

Recently, I started working as a dog walker, and since we don't speak, I've gradually learned to understand their needs through their expressions and gestures. I feel this has helped me become more attuned to the atmosphere and vibe of the dance floor.

Do you have any advice for those looking to start a career as a DJ?

I would advise spending a lot of time at venues, feeling out what kind of music works best in which settings and moments, and seeing how it makes people comfortably dance.

What plans do you have for 2024?

I plan to continue and expand the parties I've been organizing in Japan and Melbourne, called "豪流伝 | GOLDENTIME," to create more opportunities for artists from both Japan and Australia. I also aim to progress in my music production to the point of launching a label, which would allow me to support artists' activities beyond just parties.
