WHOLE EARTH RECORD STORE MAP

Satellite

Satellite opened its doors in January 2002, just a short walk from Gakugei-Daigaku Station. The store is run by Tsuyoshi Hidaka, who previously worked at “Parade,” a long-established secondhand record store in Mitaka, along the Chuo Line. With a wide-ranging selection spanning classical, jazz, rock, soul, reggae, world music, Japanese pop and rock, Satellite aims to satisfy even the most dedicated collectors of each genre.

The shop's name is inspired by Lou Reed’s “Satellite of Love,” paying tribute to Hidaka’s roots and lifelong connection to music. As a neighborhood record store, Satellite places great importance on local buy-sell-trade relationships and has become a perfect fit for the relaxed, culture-rich vibe of the Gakugei-Daigaku area.
