Rubbergard Record
Owner Mr. Ozaki travels to Brazil twice a year for month-long digging trips, sourcing nearly all of the shop’s inventory directly from cities like Rio, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, and beyond. With help from local friends, he uncovers rare collections and hidden gems that rarely make it out of Brazil. The name “Rubbergard” is inspired by a technique in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, symbolizing “aggressive defense” — a fitting metaphor for the store’s fiercely curated selection.
Stocked with carefully selected LPs and 7-inch records, Rubbergard has earned a loyal following both in Japan and abroad. On restock days following a Brazil trip, fans line up early in the morning, eager to discover exclusive finds. It's a true destination for serious collectors and Brazilian music lovers.
