Organic Music / Physical Store
Located in Shimo-Igusa, Tokyo, Physical Store is the brick-and-mortar extension of Organic Music, a record shop run by CHEE SHIMIZU.
A lifelong music enthusiast, Shimizu moved to Tokyo after high school, exploring genres from acid jazz and techno to krautrock, ambient, and contemporary music. This deep musical curiosity led him to establish Organic Music, an online store specializing in European contemporary jazz, krautrock, experimental music, and more. Eventually, he opened a physical shop to further expand his vision.
In recent years, he has also focused on Japanese contemporary music, curating works by Toru Takemitsu and others. Through his own record label, he releases experimental and ambient music, including unique projects such as shakuhachi & cello drone ensembles.
At Physical Store, visitors can enjoy tea or alcohol while engaging in deep conversations about music. It’s a space for serendipitous discoveries, where fans can explore new and unheard sounds, making it a beloved hub for adventurous listeners.
