ETERNA TRADING
Established in 1999, ETERNA TRADING is a specialty classical record store named after ETERNA, the former East German state label.
Founder Yoichi Takani discovered classical music in his teenage years, influenced by friends. He was particularly captivated by Bach’s "Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin", which led him to explore record shops in search of better sound quality.
As a record buyer, Takani began sourcing ETERNA pressings, but due to restrictions in former communist countries, these records were rarely available in Japan. Determined to bring them in, he traveled to West Germany to purchase them himself. What started as a mail-order business eventually expanded into a physical store to better organize inventory.
The shop primarily carries carefully curated original pressings from France and the UK, as original country pressings hold the highest value and offer superior sound quality in classical music. Each record undergoes meticulous inspection and cleaning before being listed, ensuring accuracy in value and condition.
Committed to preserving the integrity of classical vinyl culture, ETERNA TRADING not only sells rare records but also contributes to the rediscovery of lesser-known musicians and the reissue of historical masterpieces.
