AFTER HOURS SESSION

Sweet 'n' Sour

- Could you share the thoughts and ideas behind this mix?

We wanted to share a mix that reflects who we are and that was also suitable for the Japanese scene. Something deep, sweet and energetic.

- When you perform as a unit, do each of you—Gaga and Marabou—select records separately from your own personal collections?

Usually, we think of a general vibe we want to go towards. Then we select records separately from our own collection and we do 1 or 2 sessions pooling our ideas, we try things and refine our selecta.

- To what extent do you coordinate in advance regarding track selection and the overall direction of your set? Could you tell us about your approach to performing?

We have a broad musical spectrum that allows us to adapt and draw from different universes. We organize our bags by sections. We think about the selecta but we leave space for improvisation not preparing a set track by track.

We think first about the time (day or night party, morning or afternoon..) and the place where we'll play (small club, big one, warehouse, outdoor party...).

Then the vibe, who are the promoters inviting us ? what do they usually offer, and who is the audience coming out from their network ?

- Are there any unique “chemistry” or interactions that emerge specifically because you perform as a duo? Also, could you tell us about each of your roles within the unit and any differences in your personalities or approaches?

We have been friends and playing together for longtime now .  Sometimes magic happens, sometimes it doesn't work, but that's the purpose : experimentation.

We both have our own musical universe, it's great to see a third one emerge when we play together.

- From your perspective as artists based in France, what do you think about Japan’s club scene and DJ culture? And if there are any differences compared to France or Europe, could you tell us about them?

We love Japan's club scene and DJ culture. We had so much fun hanging out here, discovering the local scene. We like the intimacy in clubs, small places lead to stronger connections between people. We love how technical Japanese deejays and producers are, always putting attention to details, with a special touch of sensibility.

- What do you think is the appeal of DJing with vinyl?

We both started digging and collecting records way before playing so that is natural for us. We love the object, the gesture, how it sounds... that makes all the difference for us. It's an extension of your physical body that reaches your mind and soul.

- Besides DJing, what stimulates your creativity?

People, nature and art in all its forms.

- What kind of mindset is important to you as a DJ?

Keep an open mind while staying authentic.

- What plans do you have for 2026?
