- Could you share the thoughts and ideas behind this mix?
Initially I was planning on using the records I packed for my shows in Tokyo and Manila but when I was going through the crates at Ella Records I said “there’s so much good stuff here I could make a mix with only records from the shop” and it just happened like that
- Can you tell us about your approach to creating mixes?
Usually I’ll try and create a mix with a journey so with this one I started with chill vibes and then ended with records I’d play at the club peak time
- What methods do you prefer when searching for new music? Do you still enjoy browsing for music in record stores, or have you come to prefer online purchases?
Digging in Tokyo was the best experience I’ve had looking for records and I was amazed at the selection, prices and the vicinity of all the shops. I live in London and digging here is the opposite, though selection can be good it’s not really worth all the effort to dig these days for me since I have a lot of the common tunes you see in the wild so I just don’t do it as much as I used to so I like digging online too. I have around 5000 records now so I kind of let records find me these days instead of searching like I used to
- Besides DJing, what stimulates your creativity?
Before dabbling in production and DJing I was hooked on fine art painting. Since I was 11 music has been a major part of my life and when it became something I was more than just as consumer of I guess it consumed me haha
- Do you have any advice for those looking to start a career as a DJ?
Do it because you love music. Contribute something fresh and positive to the scene and try and add value to other people’s lives and things should eventually come around your way
- What plans do you have for 2025?
To continue sharing my records with the world. This year I’ll be hitting a lot of new territories and cities for the first time which I’m really excited about
