AFTER HOURS SESSION

Demsky

- Could you share the thoughts and ideas behind this set?
I wanted to share a more ambient side of what I do. Some records I felt matched the current chapter in my life. The set also showcases the alignment my old music has with the new tracks I’ve just produced. You are really going to get a sense of where I started and where I’m heading.

- Can you tell us about your approach to creating live set?
Growing up listening to a lot of jamband music taught me how to listen to others, which made my song/section transitions more fluid helping them rise and fall organically to their fullest potential. To make it even more interesting for the audience and myself, I decide my sets on stage. I want my feelings and intuition towards them to come organically and in the moment so that everyone is left with a welcoming surprise. I was happy in this set to share 2 new tracks that I’ve never performed live.

- What methods do you prefer when searching for new music? Do you still enjoy browsing for music in record stores, or have you come to prefer online purchases?
I love searching all methods. Bandcamp has always been an amazing rabbit hole for me, but recently, I’ve been going to a lot of boutique record shops on tour that work extensively in curating catalogues that they can call their own. ELLA RECORDS, Tobira Records, Rotate This, Off The Record to name just a few.

- Besides beat making, what stimulates your creativity?
I love reading, chess and just travelling. All of them are outlets into other people’s worlds. I get to learn about their characters and how they approach certain situations whether it be a good character in a book, the moves my friends make on the chessboard or seeing how people on the other side of the world respond to life. What’s more inspiring than that?

- Do you have any advice for those looking to start a career as an airtist?
Find your communities and surround yourself with good people that want to see you grow. Try everything at first to learn where you can excel the most. I’ve played in so many different scenes and venues. It showed me what I was looking for and what to avoid. It truly propelled my career.

- What plans do you have for 2025?
I am starting off the new tour in Shikoku and Kyushu to test out the new album, which will be called “Jugaad” and released through Reset Networks. After that, I will tour across Malaysia followed by a return to India and Thailand. Expect the new album at the end of this year including some remixes I’ve done.
