- Could you share the thoughts and ideas behind this mix?
For this mix I chose to play 7 inch records of songs that are somewhat classic tracks and ones that have really hit close to home for me over the years. I also wanted to showcase some records from some of my favourite modern labels like Backatacha Records, Athens Of The North, PPU and Melodies International etc. and also showcasing some older labels like Gamble, Heat and Tabu. The intention of this mix was to start off nice and slow and build it up over time to something extra fun!
- Can you tell us about your approach to creating mixes?
My approach to creating mixes varies based on the time of the evening i’m playing, where i’m playing and who i’m playing for. As an open format DJ i can be seen playing out many genres so it all really depends on the situation. I do like my mixes to have some build up and excitment throughout the journey to keep people engaged and interested whilst still maintaining a level of curiosity and fun attitude.

- Besides DJing, what stimulates your creativity?
Travelling overseas, mainly to Japan and exploring places in Australia that I’ve never been to before as well. I have always been inspired by Japanese culture since a young girl and i enjoy discovering new things about Japanese music and culture. Regularly travelling to Japan helps me to find a new direction in where I’d like to be musically & mentally. I am so inspired by the level of dedication Japanese people have towards music and in the way they perfect their craft. Being amongst that energy is what sparks my creativity the most as it’s so admirable to me.
- Do you have any advice for those looking to start a career as a DJ?
My advice for someone looking at starting a career as a DJ would have to be firstly to know your music, inside and out! Memorise the structure, listen carefully and understand your songs in their entirety. Build a library of strong tracks that reflects on the sound you want to showcase. Practice, practice and practice mixing. Don’t think you’re entering the DJ world to make a full time wage and make sure you’re doing it for the right reasons such as for the love and passion you have for music and the community. Stay in your lane and be humble. Good things come to those who have patience and wait. It can take many years to get where you want to be playing the gigs you had dreamed of.

- What plans do you have for 2025?
I plan to visit Japan again before the year is over and to just keep on digging for new records and music. A few new projects are in early stages of development but I can’t reveal too much about that yet. You’ll just have to wait and see! Check my instagram page for some updates.
