AFTER HOURS SESSION

- Can you tell us about your approach to creating beatlive?
This set is a representation of my moods and reflections while creating beats. It’s a fusion of various atmospheres with the same essence, a soulful and nostalgic selection, going from chill tempo, to higher energy. It’s a traveling in time and space, with sampling, rhythms and playful live effects.
In this one, I’ve put together old and recent beats, creating this narration.

- What methods do you prefer when searching for new music? Do you still enjoy browsing for music in record stores, or have you come to prefer online purchases?
I almost never purchase records online. I love digging in the crates, spending time to maybe find gems. And for sampling you’ll never know where it will come from, could be any random records. Also, for me each record has a history, the place I found it, the city, the country, how I sample it back home. And it’s the same when I play Vinyl Dj set, I love the fact that my selection is really the fruit of my real life experience and not the limitless online record store ahah. So I go to shops, some friends that give me some family records, big second hand shops, I always keep an eye open.

- Besides beat making, what stimulates your creativity?
I’m a multi disciplinary artist, that means that for me, creativity is always flowing around, and as a channel I can give it birth in various forms. I’m also focusing on dancing, Bboying, which include a high ephemeral energy that I try to keep in every work. Also exploring the past, roots and history, to make something unique and personal in a present moment, is meaningful as it inspires me to bring something out and to exteriorize the need of creation. And overall, I would say that nature stimulates me a lot, forests, seas, animals, the ever changing landscapes and the wonderfully organized chaos of it.

- Do you have any advice for those looking to start a career as a beatmaker?
For a career I don’t have any advice ahah, but to improve the artform, I would say to make a whole lot of beats, all the time, without overthinking it. Being honest with the creation and curious about the roots and the experiment. Just try to sample from anything, flip it into something you truly like, and try to create it just for you. Then the time to share will come, with adjustments, cleaning, perfectionism but that’s later in the process, in my opinion.

- What plans do you have for 2025?
Peace! Globally, continue my ways into life and creations, grateful for each encounter and moment  I can live. Always practicing, and I hope to continue traveling for my passions, dancing music and arts.
And more precisely, I will soon release my third hip-hop collaborative book called SCULTURE 3. That will showcase the process of breaking, and related Hip-hop originated artforms. It will come out on my website, with a T-shirt and a huge Beat Tape. It’s the results of 3 years of work, so I’m super excited to share it out. And also, with friends we’re throwing Breaking events in Barcelona and Marseille!
Thank you ELLA team for the kind attention, and wish you the best for what’s coming.
Peace

Based between Barcelona and Marseille.
Son of sun and moon, sky’s messenger from Mercury.
Multi disciplinary artist and creator, he started by dancing 15 years ago.
Since then he’ll be doing arts, design, breaks, music, sculpture, paintings, illustration and more, for him and others. Dancing and representing the crew Marginalz (MGZ), he’s a true disciple of Hip-Hop culture and all its elements, it is from this encounter that all his other practices stem. Deeply passionated and interested by the roots of it, he’s producing music, beats for the soul and the body with analogical process : vinyls, SP and MPC, what’s bridged him to DJ with records in party and dance events.
He developed his surrounding by bringing events, jams, exhibitions, books, beat tape, album with Mc’s, and sharing dance moves and vision worldwide through competing in battle, judging, and give workshops for the love of creation.
In parallel, he also studied graphic design and artistic direction, to be able to transmit messages. His own, and that of the people who trust him. Logos, identities, books, videos, posters, with an attraction for print medium, and a search for dialogue between analog and digital, manual approaches and traces of reality. A research that aims to merge eras, the past, the present and the future, in one.
